Teacher’s Pets is an adult game in which you play as a teacher starting out at a new school. There are many characters to interact with at the moment, each with her own unique and identifiable personality.

Teacher’s Pets uses 3D-rendered stills rendered at 1080p alongside many many interactive scenes rendered at 720p 30fps . The game uses an event based progression system that allows for for multiple storylines to progress independently of one another, allowing for both open-ended gameplay as well as more linear visual-novel-style stories. The main gameplay mechanics t are conversation choices, stat management, and adventure-game-style inventory/environment interaction puzzles.

Teacher’s Pets is being funded using Patreon. The current version is 1.632, though due to Patreon guidelines we are currently unable to link this version of the game. Work is underway on the next version. No release date is yet available. Once ready, the release schedule will proceed as outlined on our Patreon page.

Status update

Just made the fifth (yeah, I know) pre-alpha build available to testers. I expect to have the proper alpha up on Patreon tomorrow. Public release shouldn’t be too far away.

Once this release is public I’ll get things back to normal as far as Patreon posting  goes but for the past month or more I’ve been putting all of my time into writing and coding, refactoring most of the shitty foundational code that has been in place since I started TP having never used Ren’Py or even Python.

Change of plans

Everything I just said in the previous post stands, except push that back until tomorrow. I only have a few things left that I want to do before I make any kind of release but it’s 6AM here and I can’t think straight or keep my eyes open.

Apparently Patreon is down for maintenance

So here’s the situation: I’ll be uploading a pre-alpha release here sometime tonight. I’m not going to release as alpha yet for several reasons.

The big one being that an enormous amount of stuff has changed since the last release  and no one has seen it other than me. That includes not only the new stuff, but changes to existing content and extensive rewriting of critical, foundational code.

Point being: there is almost no chance that the game is not only extremely buggy, but also that most paths to the new content aren’t broken in one way or another.  This in addition to the fact that several key scenes, renders and animations are still in progress.

I won’t be posting this pre-alpha to Patreon as I normally do with alphas, though if you are an alpha tester level pledge and want to help with the testing (or just take a look) then contact me on Patreon or Discord and I’ll get you a  link. In case I’m not around (sometimes I sleep) I’ll leave the link with my Discord mods as well.

I expect this pre-alpha period to last for a day or two, at which point I’ll release an alpha version on Patreon as usual.

In conclusion, it’s still December in American Samoa.

Note: This was originally posted to Patreon around this time last night. I normally try to cross-post public stuff around the same time, just forgot.

I said I’d have a release out by the end of the month and I stand by that.

So how many days are there is December? 31? Whew, that’s a load off. So, yeah, expect some version of a release in the next 7 days.

Though the Patreon feed may not show it, I’ve been working as much as I possibly can for weeks now. There was simply an enormous amount to write—end points I wanted to reach that ended up taking more steps than I had anticipated. That means much more writing, rendering (often working with new environments and new characters) and even coding was necessary than I had anticipated. And, of course, despite that I’m trying very hard to maintain the same standard of quality—to raise that standard, hopefully.

In other news, in the spirit of Christmas all new non-explicit preview renders will be made available to the public up until release. I had hoped to have one ready for this post but, unfortunately, it looks like the render isn’t going to finish in time. Not that I’m done for the night, just wanted to get this up before it gets too far past midnight in NA.

Writing day

You can test a game that is missing renders but you can’t very well test a game that is missing scenes or important code. So I’m feeling a marathon writing/coding session today. Feel free to stop by Discord to hand off water.

The update, when it’s coming out, and other things

If you only follow my Patreon updates you’d be forgiven in thinking that I died in a terrible accident involving PBR and/or black tar heroin. That is not the case.

If you follow me elsewhere a lot of this will sound familiar as I’ve stated it elsewhere. People have asked if the next version is coming out this month: the next version is absolutely coming out this month. Not only that, here’s an exclusive: instead of 1.7 I’m going to call it 2.0. Just so you know it’s at least at least 17% better (I think my math is right there).

It’s been a long while since the last release and a lot has happened in the mean time. I could sit here and blame it on the Patreon suspension, the fallout from that including necessary rewrites (both in code and dialogue), and the other thing of which I will not name. All of those things have certainly played a role, but I’ve also just been slow.

Slow, initially, because the collective weight of those things was very depressing and anxiety-inducing, and made writing (which is the hardest part for me) very difficult. Then slow as each day passed without an update as I felt the pressure of more and more guilt for letting down the people who have supported me.

Don’t get me wrong—I have been working. But not up to the standard to which I hold myself and not up to the standard to which I believe I have established over the first six updates. As I’ve said elsewhere: no one feels worse about the delay than me—not because of the money, but because I have disappointed the people who supported me.

I’m doing everything I can to make it up to you all—those of you who are still Patrons as well as those of you who very understandably moved on.  And also any other random perv that just wants to bone Meghan but doesn’t have any cash to spare.

Also, I realize I’ve neglected Patreon itself and there is a simple reason for that: after the suspension I got gun-shy. It’s simply not clear to me what I’m allowed to post and what I’m not, and I don’t want to just keep posting random pictures of girls (by “girls” I mean fully mature, adult women, of course) sitting on couches wearing sweaters. Or, even worse: walls of text like this.

That said, I suppose I have to get over it at some point. Therefore, I will once again be posting more traditional previews for patrons, all of which will, to the best of my knowledge, fall well within the Patreon community guidelines.

I posted one earlier for $10 patrons which is a still from an upcoming animation. As I type this sentence frame 145/150 of that animation is being rendered so I should be able to get an actual animation preview up tonight as well.  I will also get back to pinup voting (and other voting as well, when appropriate), though my first priority right now is getting a releasable version of 2.0.
